Nowadays corona virus is rapidly increasing in the world. It start's from china and spread all over the world. Today is the condition that not only human but also Animals are also affected by this virus.
                                               Today in this article we are going to know about the news shows that corona virus in Big cats. Where the first case is found in the world and dues it affect the Indian tiger's also. And what are the steps taken by the Indian government looking this problem.

.Where the Covid 19 First Case In Big Cat Found In The World?

  • Nadia a 4 year old female Malayan Tiger at Bronx zoo in New York has become the first of her kind to test position for the Corona Virus.
  • The Tiger tested positive after developing a dry cough and is expected to recover.
  • It was the first known case of a non-domesticated animal contrating Covid 19.

.Symptoms Similar To Humans.

  • Samples from Nadia were taken and tested after the Tiger began showing symptom of respiratory illness.
  • 7 Big cat another Malayan Tiger( Nadia's sister ) two Siberian Tiger and three African lions have also had cough and a lass of appetite though they have not been tested.
  • It is not known how this disease will develop in big cats since can react differently to Novel Infection.

.How Did The Tiger Get Infected?  

  • According to the zoo the animals were infected by a zoo employee who was asymptomatically infested with the virus while caring for them.
  • Now of zoo's snow leopard, Amur leopard, puma are not showing any sign of illness. 

.Can SARS COV2 Jump from Humans To Big Cats?

  • Yes it is theoretically possible for the virus to jump species mutate and to survive in certain species after being transmitted by humans.
  • Cats are generally susceptible to feline Corona Virus which is common but usually asymptomatic.

.Why Cats Are Susceptible To SARS COV2?

  • SARS-COV2 infects respiratory cell after entering through ACE2 protein while lies on the surface of the cell.
  • The protein in cats resembles ACE2 in humans.
  • A study of feral cats in Wuhan not yet peer-reviewed , showed that some had antibodies to the Corona Virus  indicating some level of exposure to the virus and  some response by their immune system. But the cats were not ill when tested.

.Cats To Cats Transmission?

  • A study present by Chinese research but not yet peer-reviewed says yes.
  • They inoculated cats with the SARS COV2 placed them alongside uninfected cats and found that cats can transmit the virus to one another.
  • There has been no evidence about cat infecting humans though.

.Action Taken By India?

  • After the New York news India's Central Zoo Authority alerted all zoo to monitor animals 24*7 for signs of abnormal behaviour.

.Tiger Death In Pench Tiger Reserve. 

  • 4 April the death of a 10-year old ailing meal tiger, in the Pench Tiger reserve that succumbed to a respiratory illness.
  • India is the home to 3000 tigers.
  • This is 80% of all the tigers in the world.

.Precaution In India.

  • The C.Z.A has also directed zookeeper to approach sick animals wearing personal protective equipment and isolate and quarantine them.
  • The directive to wildlife wardens in states and reserves adds that tiger ought to be observed for symptoms consistent with COVID-19 such as respiratory signs of nasal discharge coughing and laboured breathing.
  • Personnel handling Tiger have to be ascertained negative.
